Today, if you hear his voice…

I’ve found over the years that God communicates in a wide variety of ways; I think that’s an overflow of his awesome creativity! I have also come to realise that when I’m struggling to sense God or receive from him, the issue is never his! God is constantly reaching out to us, speaking into our hearts, teaching and sharing his ways through the situations we find ourselves in, assuring us of His love and presence even in the most testing of times and communing with us in the quiet place! God speaks through his word, by his Spirit, and soothes our minds with his assurance and wisdom. Sometimes he lodges a quiet thought, and occasionally we might hear him audibly!

God provokes us, encouraging us to grow and mature into the people he knows that we can be! God loves to overflow our hearts with love, joy, grace and peace – so abundantly that we deluge those around us with his blessings too! God speaks from the eternal truth of the gospel; reminding us constantly that he gave his only son that we might not perish but have eternal life.

God speaks through our coming together; he loves to engage with the ‘body of Christ’ and delights in the authenticity of those who will worship him ‘in spirit and in truth’. The author of the letter to the Hebrews has this advice to give: ‘Today if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.’ (Hebrews 3:15) A soft heart is a receptive heart. When we focus on God, the distractions of life grow paler and find less priority in our lives. Be encouraged today; come expecting, teachable and ready to engage. God will not disappoint!
