Today is Remembrance Sunday and, after our time of engaging with God in worship, we will take time to honour those who have given their lives in conflict. It’s certainly good to have ‘special times’ where we allocate our attention and focus on things that are important to us.
It’s significant that we remember men and women who lived and died for a cause, and I’m reminded again that this is exactly what Christ did for us: He lived and died and conquered for the cause of our sin and our separation from God. As important as it is to remember, we are called to do way more than that when it comes to Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul said, ‘I want to know Christ,’ (Philippians 3:10) not merely acknowledge Him or remember Him, but to live as close to Him as possible!
It’s a relational thing!
