New Year Blog

Welcome to the first blog of 2019! It can be a strange time for many of us; we can really want to come into the new year with fresh optimism and faith, but worry can still have its nagging whisper in our ear! The Bible is really clear about worry: in Psalm 55:22 King David proclaims, ‘Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.’ Some centuries later the apostle Peter agrees, saying, ‘Cast all your anxiety on Him (God) because he cares for you.’ (1 Peter 5:7)

I learn from those scriptures that worry is definitely not part of God’s plan for us! The sound of worry has to be drowned out and its voice has to be confounded with a renewed appreciation that we can rest in the sustaining arms of God with full confidence in his care and his power to keep us from falling!

If worry and fear have been major players in 2018, it’s time to declare war on those whispers and revisit the promises of God; knowing that, even when we face the greatest of struggles, we have a God who will ‘never let the righteous fall’ and, if Jesus is your righteousness, that means you! Today I encourage you to wage war on worry; it no longer has to be the controlling factor!
