Maybe you’ve come in this morning feeling absolutely on top of the world: I encourage you to give thanks to God for that, as we engage in worshiping Him. Perhaps you feel like you’ve got the weight of the world on your shoulders: again I encourage you to enter into that intimate place of worship. It’s not just a case of being distracted from the struggles and burdens, it’s about ‘casting all your anxiety onto Him (God) because he cares for you’ (1 Peter 5:7). This morning God doesn’t just want to take our minds off the worries and concerns we might have, He wants us to give them to Him and leave them in His more-than-capable hands!
This morning we are looking at our third Church value statement: ‘centred in Christ’. When Jesus is at the centre, our lives can be so different. Jesus challenged a young man, who seemed to have everything, to ‘give to the poor … then come, follow me’ (Matthew 19:21), but the young man couldn’t do it. He missed out because other things were at the centre, and he went away to live life his own way. This morning be encouraged: when Jesus is at the centre you and I will never miss out. The life He has to offer totally exceeds anything that the world has to offer, so let’s receive it afresh today!
