My strength or his strength?

I want to encourage and challenge us today that, whatever we are facing, our God really is greater! The challenge to us, as followers of Jesus, is to live in the acceptance of his authority and might. We can all too easily compromise his power in our lives when we fail to rely on his capabilities and strength and instead opt to muddle through in our own limited way; or we choose to listen to the advice of others before turning to our heavenly Father. Let’s face it, sometimes pride gets in the way and we press on; determined to carry on in our strength, and it all too often leads us to a minefield of problems.

King David sings a song of praise to God not long before his death; it is the song of experience and wisdom, much of it learned the hard way! He declares: ‘To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the crooked you show yourself shrewd. You save the humble, but your eyes are on the haughty to bring them low. You are my lamp, O Lord; the Lord turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.’ (2 Samuel 22:26-30)

Today I encourage you to plug in exclusively to God and allow his word and his Spirit to guide you. Maybe that wall you see as unconquerable is about to be climbed over as we resolve to tap in anew to the greatness of our God!
