Called to community

Today we come together to worship, encourage, learn and bless as a church community here in Clitheroe.

Over the next four weeks we will be revisiting our four values, designed to inspire us both practically and spiritually. They are: called to community, challenged to grow, centred in Christ, connected in relationship. We feel that these statements cover all the bases in helping us walk stronger and more purposefully on our journey, and we call them values because we feel that they merit some priority in our lives.

This week we are looking at what it means to be called to community. We value that one so much that it’s the centre-piece of our church’s name! The truth is that, when Jesus said, ‘I will build my church’ (Matthew 16:18), He wasn’t talking about bricks and mortar, He was responding to a revelation from Peter, who proclaimed Jesus to be ‘the Christ, the son of the living God’ (Matthew 16:16). That declaration is intended for our community, and when we live in the reveal, declaring and demonstrating who Jesus is to those around us, then lives will be touched! Exciting, eh?
