Receiving the kingdom

I want to encourage you from Hebrews 12:28: ‘Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.’ The Scriptures tell us that we have so much to be thankful for! Through Christ we are being exposed to the kingdom, and the word ‘receiving’ implies that we can expect an increase of its measure in our lives as we journey with the Lord.

When we truly get a sense of the unshakable certainty of God’s plan for our lives, and an overwhelming assurance that He desires to unleash more and more of his kingdom upon us, we are in pole position to receive.

Our confidence in God’s desire to expand us demonstrates His love, commitment and confidence in who we can become through his son, Jesus Christ. We are less likely to be limited by our frail human hang-ups when we acknowledge that God wants to systematically work through us for the extension of his kingdom because He loves us unconditionally.

Today, and every day, we can be thankful that God’s view of us goes beyond our own thoughts of ourselves and he loves us with the undeserved love of the best of fathers!
