Are you following at distance?

At our Sunday meetings, I hope people feel at home with us but, more importantly, I hope they discover and connect with the presence of God, as we worship Him together. I believe that God loves it when He has our attention! Let’s be honest, we are more often than not captivated by so many other distractions: gadgets, social media, expectations of others who require our time and attention. Life is so full and busy; maybe it’s a matter of priority? It’s good to ask of ourselves frequently, ‘How high up our list is God really?’ The fact of choosing to come along on a Sunday morning is a great indication that God is on our radar, yet I believe we need to venture in deeper!

Deuteronomy 32:3 records Moses declaring these words to the Israelite people: ‘For I will proclaim the name of the Lord; ascribe greatness to our God!’ It’s a proclamation that puts God in His rightful place of importance. To try and tell of the greatness of God, while making Him low priority with our time and focus, doesn’t make sense. To follow Jesus from a distance that has been created out of distraction doesn’t quite add up either! I encourage us all to follow Him closely, worship Him extravagantly and prioritise Him above all other things!
